Knit and Crochet Progress

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared any knit and crochet progress with current wips. I often feel pressure to have completed projects to post about. The challenge with this is often they’re so time consuming, that I end up with nothing to share.

So, for now, I’ll share progress updates. As I have finished objects, I’ll share them. Currently, I’m working on mainly larger projects. That is, two blankets, a sweater in fingering weight yarn, and a pair of socks.

Here’s where I’m at:

Charlotte’s Universe

I’ve briefly talked about my excitement surrounding this fabulous CAL. Dedri Uys has designed this ever-growing blanket full of interesting stitches and new challenges. Part 8 came out this week and I managed to finish all rounds included by Tuesday. Minus weaving in the ends. I said I would work away my ends at the end of each part. Somehow I only kept that up for the first 4 or 5 parts.

I swear I’ll get to these at some point.

It’s taking me longer to get through each part. Frustrating, but a good sign Charlotte is growing.

The CAL pattern by Dedri Uys is available on lookwhatimade.net. While she has recommended using Scheepjes dk yarn, I’ve chosen a different palette. My version of Charlotte is worked using Paintbox dk in Paper White and Ballet Pink, as well as King Cole’s Unsplash in Candyfloss.

These tulips give me so much happiness.

Mermaid Blanket

Another WIP these days is my mermaid blanket. I had gotten the free pattern from Yarnspirations (available here).

I have made adjustments to the pattern, to be able to see the colours showing on both sides of the fabric, I’ve decided to work over stitches, instead of in front.

The yarn used for this price is Lion Brand Pound of Love in white, and Lion Brand Ice Cream Roving in Limeade.

The colour changes in this yarn are so pleasing to look at and follow along. I have previously worked with this yarn for my Ridged Chevron Baby blanket here.

Knit Raglan V-neck Sweater

In addition to crochet projects, I’ve cast on more knit projects!

The first, is a basic raglan v-neck sweater. Following along this pattern as a guideline but making adjustments as I’ve used fingering weight yarn instead of the recommended. I made sure to knit a gauge swatch before casting on to ensure I could accurately calculate how to adjust the pattern for the specific yarn I chose.

I’m certainly rediscovering a love of knitting after so many years. It almost, just almost makes me wonder why I gave it up in the first place.

It's growing!

Knit Socks

The second, and final wip I’m working on is a fairly new cast on for a pair of knit socks for my husband.

Working with a skein of Malabrigo Rios in Arco Iris, this project is very enjoyable to work on and has been the one I turn to when frustrated with the others.

This sock (I’m still on the first) actually gives me peace and is great to work on in the evenings before bed. I’m already planning future cast-ons for more socks.

Since originally drafting this post, I’ve had to frog and re-cast on a sock. My first was starting to ladder between stitches and was just too big being worked on size 2.5mm needles.

And there you have it. All the (active) projects I have going at the moment and my current knit and crochet progress. After all, progress is better than perfection.

Stay tuned for future progress updates!
